WHAT would the old boy have made of it? Lloyd's underwriting room was, for a night at least, utterly transformed by the music of the London Sinfonietta and the visual imagination of Peter Greenaway.

Some 200 years to the day that Nelson set sail for Trafalgar, Lloyd's hosted the premiere of what is, incredibly, its first creative collaboration.

In Writing on Water, Greenaway's libretto, referencing The Tempest, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Moby Dick, was brought to life through David Lang's hypnotic, surging score with images composed and mixed live by Greenaway and calligrapher Brody …
