All four state associations are busily involved with preparations for their 2007 conferences. The Arkansas State MTA conference will be held at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, June 1-2, 2007. A committee is updating the musicianship portion of the state syllabus for the ASMTA festivals; the region map has also been revised.
The Louisiana MTA convention will be held on October 18-20, 2007, at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond. Guest clinician will be Ingrid Clarfield. Louisiana is still receiving donations to their SOS fund. A recent donation from Wisconsin enabled them to purchase a digital piano for a teacher who could not yet afford to buy an acoustic piano.
