Feb. 11--Nonprofits shell out for executive talent, just like in corporate America. Many of Greater Montgomery's 25 largest tax-exempt organizations by assets are no exception.

W. Russell Tyner, president and chief executive of Baptist Health, was the highest-paid among the leaders of the biggest nonprofits in Autauga, Elmore and Montgomery counties.

Tyner received $486,348 in salary and $98,334 in other compensation for the year ended June 30, 2005, the most recent period for which federal records are available. Tyner also oversees Baptist Health's non-hospital assets held by another nonprofit, Montgomery Baptist Outreach. …
