PAIRED OFF -- There seem to be a lot of male-female duos in business right now; the high-profile White Stripes and Brooklyn's medium-profile Matt & Kim are only two of a growing cohort. This statistical spike must be due partly to coincidence, but technology is likely involved. Computers can be entire studios, whether they're making the music or simply capturing it. Why would a duo go through the hassle of recruiting more members if they've already written a song and want to keep moving?
The Bird and the Bee consists of the singer Inara George and the multi-instrumentalist Greg Kurstin. Both are professionals who have spent years in the record business. George's father was the late Lowell George, the co-founder and lead singer of Little Feat, and Kurstin is a session musician and producer who has worked with the Flaming Lips and Lily Allen.
