A couple of days ago the mail brought an interesting package, a small book a bit larger than a CD jewel case titled "Mozart Musical Masterpieces" and a raft of marketing material. The book contains an audio CD and a 24-page booklet. The CD has 11 selections: the overture to Le Nozze di Figaro, the first movement of Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, the third movement of Gran Partita, the first movement of Symphony No. 40 and more--in short, a medley of Mozart's greatest hits. The booklet has an eight-page biography, two pages of historical context, a four-page listener's guide to the first nine selections on the CD, and a two-page "in depth" discussion of the requiem aeternam and ...
