I must remark on the comments by Dr. Dawn A. Marcus in the article "Manipulate Estrogen Levels to Treat Hormonal Headache" (March 15, 2004, p. 10).
I appreciate her advocacy for nursing migraineurs but must point out that the American Academy of Pediatrics approves sumatriptan succinate for use in breast-feeding mothers.
As both an ob.gyn. and an internationally board certified lactation consultant, I often see patients who have been told to "pump and dump" while using medications that are either approved for use in breast-feeding or ...
