The fact that only 65% of the ob.gyn. slots were filled by U.S. seniors in the match is due to more than the malpractice crisis: half of the applicant pool--male medical students--is simply not applying to ob.gyn. residencies ("Fewer U.S. Seniors Match to Ob.Gyn.
