Feb. 8--MILLBROOK -- Vicki Akins doesn't stop teaching when the bell rings.

For two and half hours after school, Akins and two other teachers at Millbrook Middle/Junior High School shift into overdrive, teaching more than 40 students everything from the three Rs to using technology to creating animation booklets.

Today marks the one-month anniversary of a new after-school program implemented by Elmore County Public Schools to boost student achievement and connect parents and the community to the district's middle schools.
