Feb. 8--KERNERSVILLE Police Chief Neal Stockton took on a second job yesterday. He was named the town's interim fire chief yesterday after the town manager decided that none of the applicants for the fire chief's job was up to snuff. Stockton is actually "acting chief" of the fire department, but he sure sounded like the real deal yesterday when asked about his additional responsibilities. "It is an honor," Stockton said. "I think I can do both jobs. I think it will be challenging to me, but I can face that challenge. My knowledge and exposure to the community is a plus for me.
