Prince William spoke of his love of sport yesterday as he took up his role as vice royal patron of the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU).
The Prince cheered on Wales at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff, but saw them beaten by Ireland in their opening game of the Six Nations.
Wearing a dark red official WRU tie with a dark blue suit and pale blue shirt, William was greeted by dignitaries including Secretary of State for Wales Peter Hain, First Minister Rhodri Morgan and Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas, presiding officer of the National Assembly for Wales.
