Feb. 3--Mount Airy 77, Bishop McGuinness 68: Robby Reid scored 26 points and had 14 rebounds as Mount Airy clinched at least a share of the Northwest 1-A Conference title by outlasting Bishop McGuinness last night. Dillon Bobbitt and Andrew Webb each added 10 points for Mount Airy (18-5, 14-1). The Granite Bears can clinch the outright regular season title with a win over West Wilkes next Tuesday. J.L. Sadler had 25 points -- including 19 in the second half -- and seven rebounds for McGuinness, and Brad Kenney added 18 points and nine rebounds. McGuinness completed the regular season at 16-8 overall and 12-4 in the conference. The Greyhounds came out on fire in the second half, going 13 of 18 from the field and 16 of 23 from the free-throw line to come away with a win and stay undefeated in the MVC. Kent Brown scored 16 points, Beau Booker finished with 13 and Lee Martin added 12 for the Greyhounds. Ethan Goodman scored 24 points, with 16 coming in the first half, for Ashe, and Tommy Spagnolo added 12 for Ashe County. Ashe 21 11 13 14 -- 73N. Surry 14 17 23 19 -- 59 Ashe Co.
