Feb. 3--A shakeup in Winston-Salem's legal community became official yesterday with an announcement by Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice PLLC that it hired five veteran attorneys from rival Kilpatrick Stockton LLP. The most prominent hire is Pete Brunstetter, a former partner at Kilpatrick Stockton and a state senator representing Forsyth County. He joins Womble's corporate and securities practice group as a member -- the firm's equivalent of a partner. Also joining Womble are former Kilpatrick partners Jeff Lawyer and Michael Drye and former associate attorneys David Broughton and Ryan Opel. Lawyer and Drye are members with Womble. …
