JAKARTA, Feb 1 Asia Pulse - Diversified mining company PT Aneka Tambang (Antam) (JSX:ANTM) said its FeNi III factory has been in operation since January 29.
The operation followed the handover of the factory from the turnkey contractor Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC), a consortium of Unincorporated Kawasaki Heavy Industries and Mitsui Co. Ltd, to PT Antam, the company's director D. Aditya Sumanagara said in a report to the Jakarta Stock Exchange on Tuesday.
The handover of the factory was conducted with the two sides signing a Certificate of Taking Over agreement on Monday.
Aditya said the factory had a full capacity of 42 MW and an installed capacity of 15,000 tons of nickel in ferronickel (TNI) form.
In light of long-term operation, Antam is using nickel ore with a content of 2.1-2.2 per cent.
"Therefore, ferronickel production in 2007 is estimated at 20,000 to 22,000 TNI. This estimate is far higher than last year's production of 14,424 TNI," Aditya said.
