SEOUL, Feb. 1 Asia Pulse - South Korean stocks started higher Thursday, led by gains in steel and finance shares, analysts said.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) rose 4.16 points, or 0.31 percent, to 1,364.39 in the first 15 minutes of trading.

Most large caps opened higher, led by gains in the steel industry. Top steelmaker POSCO was up in early trading.
