MOSCOW, Feb 1 Asia Pulse - Russia on Wednesday said the import of rice from India would remain suspended till it verifies the export quality control mechanism in the country.
Russia had imposed a blanket ban on import of rice from all countries in December last year, saying it had discovered over 2,000 tonnes of substandard and hazardous rice, some of which contained pesticides.
The Federal Veterinarian and Phytosanitary Control Service said that besides India it has not lifted the ban on rice imports from Vietnam and Pakistan also.
