Ivanka Trump has been aware of fashion "I think my whole life," she says. "I was born in 1981, when, for better or worse, people were definitely conscious of it. Then it was a very done look. I personally am more of a minimalist, but it's so much fun to go to the couture shows. The energy and theatricality!" She saw her first at the age of seven. It was her Paris debut, and she was staying at the Ritz with her mother. "The airline lost our luggage from Nice," Ivanka remembers, so her mother dressed her in the vividly printed Versace silk shirt Ivana had been wearing, tying it in a knot at the waist. "I ran into Gianni Versace in the hotel lobby," says Ivanka. "He was intrigued at how we had manipulated his fashion."
