A PLEA for leniency for Wolfgang Schroder, former master of the Zim Mexico III, awaiting sentence in Mobile after his conviction for manslaughter, has been made by the Honourable Company of Master Mariners, writes Michael Grey.

In a letter to district court judge Callie Granade, who is expected to sentence him next week, the London livery company stressed the long and exemplary service of Capt Schroder, whose vessel was in contact with a container crane last March when an electrician was killed.
