I Just wanted to say that I thought Julian Beardsworth's article on his day out with the police, organised by the Motor Insurers' Bureau to catch uninsured drivers was excellent (Silently, they watch us, Post, 18 January, pp 18-19).
I found it to be a very captivating read and it was reassuring to read his account of such a day. It is also pleasing that the police are actually trying to catch uninsured and dangerous drivers, and not just the motorist who is doing 33 mph in a 30mph zone.
Mr Beardsworth also made a very good and valid point about the frustration of the police and cooperation of insurers. This needs to be stepped up and individuals working in the industry need to work towards improving communication and access to the Motor Insurance Database. I ...
