My style's more black and white," says Leigh Lezark of the MisShapes, explaining why she painted her golden Tory ballet flats black to match her nails. The handbag of the downtown deejay princess-whom The New York Times dubbed "a femme fatale version of Ali MacGraw"-is black suede, by Moe, and shot with golden punk studs. "I like studs on everything," she says, "like the back of my Marc Jacobs shoes. But it's coming into the mainstream, so I'm going to have to find something new."

Always on that quest, New Jersey-born Lezark couldn't get out of her home state fast enough. Barely a week after she graduated from high school, the flashing-green-eyed beauty had holed up in New York City ("the only place I wanted to live") and secured a job as a fit model for Ben Sherman in the old Warhol Factory. Her East Village apartment is painted silver with black trim, and she named her miniature dachshund Edie.

"When I was young," says Lezard, 23, "I was obsessed with Breakfast at Tiffany's. That uptown girl who acts like a crazy lunatic-I just loved that!"

Lezark formed her deejay triumvirate the MisShapes, with friends Geordon Nicol and Greg Krelenstein, almost by accident. Now their Saturday nights at the club Don Hill's have attracted style meisters like Hedi Slimane and Sienna Miller, and Madonna and ...
