British police investigators from Scotland Yard have been in Russia attempting to interview witnesses and suspects in the case of Alexander Litvinenko, who died in a British hospital on November 23 from radiation poisoning caused by polonium 210. Before dying, Litvinenko, a former officer in the Russian FSB (successor to the Soviet KGB), charged Putin with responsibility for ordering his assassination by poisoning.
