Jan. 25--Matt Bacik knows firsthand about the transition from the military to Veteran Affairs health care.

Bacik, a student at Auburn University, had to have part of his right leg amputated following an improvised explosive device attack in Iraq. When he got out of the Army, he had to do a head-to-toe body check with the Army, then again for the VA.

That's why the former Army captain is excited about a proposal announced Wednesday that seeks to make inpatient medical records accessible to both Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals.
