The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey is facing its fourth whistleblower lawsuit filed in less than a month, all claiming that the school took part in serious financial fraud.
The most recent lawsuit was filed by Deirdre Henry-Taylor, a former compliance officer at the school. After three years on the job, she was forced to resign last year after complaining of "fraudulent billing practices which resulted in the theft of millions of dollars of public funds," according to her attorney.
Also suing recently was Kathryn Gibbons, a former senior finance official since 1999, who said she spent four years trying to get the school to clean up its act. She detailed an elaborate scheme designed to keep the school from being hit with criminal charges for double-billing the government.
