The lacrosse team rape scandal at Duke University NC continues to affect the campus, even nine months later.
Campus officials said that applications for early admission are down 26% this year, from 15,001 last year to 11,098, and cited the rape scandal as the likely culprit. With tuition at $34,000, that's a big drop in income.
Dean of Admissions Christoph Guttentag said the school received fewer applications than normal from the Eastern seaboard and metro areas, where the rape received the most media attention. The three lacrosse players indicted are from Maryland, New York and New Jersey.
