John Hopkins University continues to lag behind comparable research schools in recruiting and hiring female faculty and senior administrators, according to a recent study.
Women comprised 51% of the student body, but only 36% of full-time faculty in 2005. Only two of the school's five VPs are women, and only two of the eight academic deans.
Finding qualified women to fill positions is not an issue, said Provost Steven Knapp. "There is a huge pool of talented women in the pipeline and we need to focus on that."
