Every fall, the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) presents a wonderful opportunity for federal employees to give to their favorite charity. This presents a golden opportunity for pro-lifers to help the National Right to Life Educational Trust Fund educate the public about the plight of the unborn, elderly, and handicapped. But you must hurry. The CFC ends in December.
(State government employees have a program of their own, as do a growing number of private-sector workplaces. See the end of this article for more details.)
You can find the Trust Fund this fall in your CFC brochure under the federation called HSCA (Human Service Charities of America). You will find it under HSCA Agency #2844. The Trust Fund has participated in the CFC for almost 26 years.
The CFC is a cost-efficient workplace giving program created by the Office of Personnel Management to provide federal employees with philanthropic giving opportunities. Indeed, the CFC is the largest annual workplace giving campaign with more than 300 campaigns throughout the country and overseas. CFC activities take place in military bases and postal offices around the country, where employees receive a CFC brochure. This brochure lists hundreds of charities from which to select and makes it convenient to give through payroll deductions.
Each year the Trust Fund shares CFC proceeds with its state affiliate groups, who utilize the funds to educate citizens in many ways that directly affect lives. NRL's workplace campaigns coordinator receives many grateful letters and e-mails from state affiliates.
From this correspondence we know that they are industriously using those resources in numerous effective ways. There are, for example, educational talks in schools and to civic groups, educational booths at state and local fairs, educational advertising messages, and educational literature that is sent out upon request to the public.
