Alexander Johnson, a would-be armed robber, told police after he had been shot by a cab driver that he and an accomplice, Arthur Joseph, had planned to rob a cab on the night of September 23. In fact, the cab that they held up was the second one that they attempted to rob that night. The first attempt failed because the cab driver became suspicious and wouldn't stop.
