Jan. 5--Santa Fe police Sgt. Kyle Zuments has his bullet-resistant vest to thank for his surviving with little more than a bruised abdomen after Wednesday's shootout. All officers in the department have vests and are required to wear them while on patrol, said Police Chief Eric Johnson. The vests cost $250 to $900 and are manufactured by Michigan- based Second Chance Body Armor, whose parent company, Armor Holdings Inc., is the biggest supplier of body armor topolice officers in the country.
