Jan. 5--The Santa Fe school board voted Thursday to ask the Legislature for money to complete construction projects as well as $3 million to convert Gonzales Elementary to a K-8 school. The district is also asking for about $1.5 million -- for security measures, money to plan for a regional technical/vocational school, uniforms and other programs.
Funds for project shortfalls were not part of the district's initial wish list, but were added after board member Frank Montano raised concerns at Thursday's meetings. Montano said he didn't think converting Gonzales to a K-8 school was as important as completing projects that the ...
