Mostly unrealized until a decade ago, a group of chemical contaminants collectively known as endocrine disruptors (EDs) or emerging contaminants (ECs) have been slipping through sewage treatment plants and depositing into streams, lakes and groundwaters worldwide. These contaminants have been implicated in widespread reproductive and immunological damages among many wildlife species [1] (Figure 1).
