MICHAEL OWEN has boosted Newcastle and England by insisting he is targeting an April comeback. The Toon striker has vowed to come back better than ever following the injury hell which wrecked his World Cup and restricted him to just said that latest scan results from the United States reveal the cruciate knee injury has healed perfectly and he can soon step up his training. "At worst, Michael is on schedule, " said Roeder. "Potentially he is ahead ofschedule because the knee is in pristine condition. "He got a scan sent over to Richard Steadman in Colorado. He looked at it and is absolutely delighted." The results confirmed to Owen that he could be just over three months away from playing again. And, talking for the first time about his recovery, he said: "Everything's so far so good. "Presuming it remains a steady progression, I'm hoping to be back in April. That's the big target. "If it's May, though, it probably wouldn't be worth it, say, for one game. April is what I'm aiming for but I don't want to give any false promises to myself or anyone.
