GEORGE Michael was last night facing a possible jail sentence after he was charged with driving under the influence of drugs. The multi-millionaire singer, 43, was found slumped semi-conscious behind the wheel of his Mercedes in October. He will appear before Brent magistrates, north-west London, on January 11 under his real name of Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou. And he could be locked away for up to six months if convicted. A Scotland Yard spokesman said yesterday: "We can confirm that George Panayiotou was charged on December 21 with driving while unfit through drink or drugs." Police were called after the former Wham! star stopped at traffic lights in Cricklewood in the early hours of October 2, less than a mile from his mansion in posh Highgate, north London. Worried motorists failed to rouse the star, who was blocking the road. He was taken to hospital for a check-up and was later arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and driving under the influence of drugs. He was also cautioned for possessing cannabis.
