INVESTMENT IN TIANJIN BINHAI NEW ZONE TO TOP US$128 BLN.
BEIJING, Jan 1 Asia Pulse - A number of large projects were launched in Tianjin Binhai New Zone in 2006, the first year when the zone was incorporated into the State Development Strategy as a whole. It is expected that investment in the zone will exceed one trillion yuan (US$128 billion) in the next five years.
This was disclosed by Pi Qiansheng, director of Tianjin Binhai New Zone Administrative Committee.
He said that Binhai New Zone has signed more than 100 projects since the beginning of 2006 with total investment reaching 380 billion yuan. The new zone completed 90 billion yuan investment in 2006, which may increase to 150 billion yuan in 2007.
Several large projects started construction in 2006 in the zone. The Airbus 320 project has been put into production, which has boosted the development of aviation industry in Tianjin; the 1-million-ton ethylene project with a total investment of 26 billion yuan started construction in June 2006; Beijiang Power Plant with a total investment of 12.3 billion yuan went smoothly; Beijing-Tianjin-Tanggu ...
