SHANGHAI, Jan 1 Asia Pulse - Turnover on the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) hit a historic high in 2006, according to SHFE statistics.

Combined turnover of copper, aluminum, rubber and fuel oil transaction reached 12,610 billion yuan (US$1.6 trillion) in January-December, 92.81 per cent more than that of 2005. The total transaction volume hit 116 million lots, a surge of 71.96 per cent year on year.

Rubber has taken the place of copper to become the item with the largest transaction turnover.

In the 12 months, turnover of copper, aluminum, natural rubber and fuel oil respectively stood at 3,330 billion yuan, 2,840 billion yuan, 5,570 ...
