PEOPLE'S DAILY

- Chinese President Hu Jintao on December 29 said he hoped the Hong Kong people would sustain their sound development and continue to contribute to future prosperity.

- China's central government will continue its support for the development of the Macao Special Administrative Region, said President Hu Jintao here on December 29 while meeting with Macao SAR Chief Executive Ho Hau Wah.

- Premier Wen Jiabao on December 29 met with Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Chief Executive Donald Tsang and praised the efforts made by the HKSAR government over the year.

- Premier Wen Jiabao praised the development made by the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) during a meeting with Macao SAR Chief Executive Ho Hau Wah here on December 29.

- China newly constructed and renovated 260,000 km of rural highways, and newly let nearly 30,000 administrative villages have access to asphalt and cement roads in 2006.
