TAIPEI, Jan 1 Asia Pulse - Taiwanese Premier Su Tseng-chang urged local semiconductor manufacturers Saturday to replace their old production facilities and increase their investment in Taiwan, now that the government has relaxed its restrictions on allowing Taiwan wafer production processes to be moved to China.
Su was referring to a Ministry of Economic Affairs' announcement a day earlier that Taiwan semiconductor manufacturers would be allowed to move 0.18-micron manufacturing technology to China.
