TAIPEI, Jan 1 Asia Pulse - First lady Wu Shu-jen was released from National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) on Sunday, 16 days after low blood pressure caused her to faint during the first hearing of her embezzlement trial.
NTUH spokesman Lin Ho-hsiung said Wu's blood pressure, heartbeat and temperature have almost stabilized after more than two weeks of treatment and recuperation, even though the wheelchair-bound first lady may still suffer occasional low blood pressure.
Wu has been paralyzed from the waist down and confined to a wheelchair since she was hit by a truck in 1985.
"Because of her permanent spinal injuries, Wu has long suffered an autonomic nervous system disorder, and therefore when she sits for long periods of time, goes to bathroom or when the temperature drops dramatically, she may sometimes feel dizzy," Lin said.
