The Marxist-led "non-aligned" movement, created and controlled by "independent" Marxists during the Cold War, is enjoying a revival as a counterpoint to the Bush administration's interventionist foreign policy.
Little was said about the anniversary of 9/11 as delegates from 116 nations--that figure accounts for roughly two-thirds of the entire UN General Assembly--met in Havana in September for the summit of non-aligned nations. Prominent among attendees were China, North Korea, Laos, and of course the host country, Cuba--all of which are specimens of a supposedly extinct species, the communist totalitarian state.
According to Reuters, "The Non-Aligned Movement was founded in Belgrade in 1961 by Third World nations to try to avoid alignment with either the United States or the Soviet Union....
