MTNA leaders attend Summit.(National Association News)(Brief article)(Conference notes)
The ninth annual Summit for MTNA Leadership was held in Cincinnati, Ohio, September 15-17, 2006. Nearly 100 MTNA leaders, including state presidents, division directors-elect, program chairs and the board of directors, attended the weekend of education, motivation and networking.
Gary McPherson, who holds the Marilyn Pflederer Zimmerman Endowed Chair in Music Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is a leader in music study research, was the keynote speaker for the weekend and addressed the topics of giftedness and talent in music and the effects of practice on music study.
Other plenary sessions included a preview of the 2007 Collaborative Conference Immediate Past President Phyllis Pieffer, a presentation about the MTNA Certification Program by Certification Chair Sylvia Coats, an overview of MTNA's Strategic Plan for technology by Chief Information Officer Julianne Miranda, and an introduction to ...
