Alternate Schooling

Though they aren't ready to give up on the public school system, most Americans believe private schools provide a better education. About six in ten parents with school-age children send them to public schools, but around 40 percent are going outside the system. Most of those use private schools. But 8 percent of U.S. parents are homeschooling their children or have in the past, and another third know someone who does. The top reasons: dissatisfaction with academic instruction of a desire to provide religious or moral instruction.
