Abstract
Assessment of student learning has received much attention in the last decade. Many experts have articulated the value of assessment, and many critical decisions in higher education are now based at least partially on effective assessment. While the value of assessment is clear, the implementation and maintenance of an effective assessment process is often challenging. This paper identifies some of these challenges and discusses potential solutions.
