Dec. 21--A progressive think tank has recognized Alabama for giving tax breaks to families this year by raising the income tax filing threshold, which had been the lowest in the nation.

The Drum Major Institute for Public Policy listed Alabama as part of its "DMI Year in Review" that highlights the best and worst in public policy. It was among six states recognized for good public policy.
