Autauga County schools bid big to win 40 acres in Prattville.

Dec. 21--PRATTVILLE -- A secret bid process imposed on the sale of 40 acres of land cost the Autauga County Board of Education $150,000 more than the property might be worth.

The land, located behind Prattville High School and adjacent to Upper Kingston Park, was sold as part of a court settlement. Autauga County Circuit Clerk Whit Moncrief opened the bids at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The nearest competing bid was $472,000 made by Crawford Jones for Pell Avenue LLC, a local investment group.
