Dec. 21--PRATTVILLE -- An Elmore County judge shut down a Prattville furniture store because the store's owners failed to pay state taxes they accrued over two years, court records show.

Circuit Judge John Bush issued a permanent injunction and "padlock order" on Dec. 4 against Ruckers Furniture Gallery, located at 2223 Cobbs Ford Road. The Elmore County Sheriff's Office locked up the store that same day.

Bush's order states the furniture store "failed or refused to pay the amounts of sales tax due," which had accrued to $85,785 by May 2005, according to court records. The tax liability was generated between Sept. 1, 2003, and …
