His remarks grew from the report of the 50-member Presidential Task Force of the Future of Division I Intercollegiate Athletics, much of which focused on fiscal reform.
The report, "The Second-Century Imperatives--Presidential Leadership and Institutional Accountability," calls on presidents and chancellors to "take reform home" by making decisions at the campus level, rather than operating under national mandates.
