Dec. 14--Recent cases of chickenpox reported in nearby Yadkin County have raised concerns about an outbreak here in western Forsyth County.

"The good news is that we have seen absolutely nothing," said Anne Hicks, the school nurse for Meadowlark Middle and Meadowlark Elementary schools. "It's nothing to panic over."

Belinda Beard, the principal at Southwest Elementary School, said that there were a few reported cases there from students in the third grade.

Dr. Chip Monroe of Mocksville Pediatrics said he saw one child with chickenpox-like symptoms a few weeks ago, but he was not sure that it was chickenpox.
