Dec. 2--PHELAN -- The Serrano boys basketball team scored the first eight points of overtime to beat Palmdale, 80-69, Friday night at the DCB Serrano Shoot-out. The Diamondbacks (3-0) advanced to the finals of the tournament for the second straight year.
Senior guard Harrison Gaines led Serrano with 21 points and seven assists. Jamaal Franklin contributed 17 points and eight rebounds.
The Falcons (2-1) had four players foul out of the game, including leading scorer Christopher Hicks. The senior tallied a game-high 22 points.
Serrano will face El Segundo tonight at 7:30 p.m. in a rematch of last year's championship game, which the Diamondbacks won, 70-63.
