SEOUL, Dec 1 Asia Pulse - Unionized workers at Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea's top automaker, said Friday it will stage a partial strike later in the day to join a large-scale demonstration against the government's labor reform bills.
The four-hour stoppage, which will begin at 1:00 p.m., is the sixth partial strike since last month, according to the union's Web site.
On Thursday, the National Assembly voted for three labor reform bills, which laborers say will threaten job security for temporary workers. However, the government said the bills would ban employers from discriminating such workers.
In South Korea, about 5.35 million workers, or 35.3 per cent of total workers, are hired on a temporary basis, a local daily Dong-a Ilbo reported on Friday.
