BUY PINOY EXPORTERS FAIR OPENS IN PHILIPPINES' MANDALUYONG
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - The late former mayor of San Fernando, Pampanga lawyer Virgilio Sanchez will be conferred a posthumous award today during the opening of the 11th Buy Pinoy Exporters Fair in Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila.
The award will be presented by Francis Chua, president of the Federation of Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FCCCII).
THAILAND'S FINANCE MINISTRY RAISES 2006 GDP GROWTH PROJECTION
BANGKOK - The Finance Ministry has raised its projection of the gross domestic product (GDP) growth this year to 5 per cent from 4.5 per cent, noting the economies of Thailand's trading partners had expanded more than expected.
Pannee Sathavarodom, Director-General of the Fiscal Policy Office, said the ministry made the upward revision of the GDP estimate after the economies of 11 key trading partners grew 4.2 per cent in the third quarter, against 3.5 per cent expected earlier.
AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL EXPENDITURE PLUNGES 6 PCT IN Q3
SYDNEY - Australia's business investment boom looks to be coming to be an end, with capital expenditure plunging in the third quarter and spending plans for 2006/07 increasing only slightly.
New private capital expenditure fell six per cent in real terms, seasonally adjusted, in the September quarter to .847 billion ($US13.96 billion) at 2004/05 prices, new data showed today.

TOKYO - Japan's industrial production in October rose 1.6 per cent month-on-month as the country's economic recovery gathers momentum.
The surprise result beat forecasts that production would fall 0.4 per cent in the month, according to media reports.
S. KOREA'S SERVICE OUTPUT GROWTH DECELERATES IN OCTOBER
SEOUL - South Korea's service sector output grew at a slower pace in October due mainly to decreased working days, a government report showed Thursday, raising concerns over a deepening slowdown in domestic demand.
Output in the service sector gained 3.2 per cent last month from a year ago, marking the 20th-straight monthly rise, according to a report from the National Statistical Office (NSO).
