MELBOURNE, Nov 30 Asia Pulse - A Sydney firm that makes products for respiratory disorders has been named Australian Exporter of the Year.
ResMed Inc (ASX:RMD) was selected from a record 489 entries to win the award at the 2006 Australian Export Awards Gala in Melbourne tonight.
The firm, which operates in more than 60 countries, makes medical products to treat and manage sleep-disordered breathing and other respiratory disorders.
It was among 12 export winners in various categories to be presented awards by Austrade and the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Austrade chief executive Peter O'Byrne said the winners provided a snapshot of the strength and diversity of Australia's export community.
"The companies we recognise tonight at the Australian Export Awards are taking Australian products and services to global markets and helping ensure the continuing and growing prosperity of all Australians," Mr O'Byrne said.
