June kicks off the 2000-2003 commemoration of the Korean War, and a large number of Posts plan to host special activities. In Arizona, for instance, nearly every Post has applied for commemorative status from the Department of Defense.
"We have worked closely with each Post, encouraging them to apply," said Sr. Vice Commander Vincent Rigo. "Department and Auxiliary leaders have worked really hard at this."
To obtain commemorative status, Posts must file applications outlining planned activities and provide reports following each event. Each "commemorative" group must agree to:
